Perpetual and Rental Licenses
For all our products we have two types of licenses: perpetual and rental:- Perpetual licenses allow you to use the product you purchased forever without need for renewals or subscriptions. A perpetual license applies to the current major version of the product. For example, if you purchase a perpetual license for V1 of a product you will get all updates for this version (e.g. V1.1, V1.2, V1.3, etc.) for free. You will also receive a substantial upgrade discount for any future version of the same product (e.g. V2, V3, etc.). Major versions are typically released within one to three years of each other.
- Rental licenses allow you to use the product you purchased for a limited time for a price which is much smaller than the perpetual license. Any new minor or major versions of the product released while your rental license is active are available to you.
Discounts and resellers
We provide opportunities to purchase perpetual licenses through a reseller. We do not, however, allow purchasing rental licenses through a reseller. Rental licenses must be purchased directly through our website.
There are some discounts available individually for each product's perpetual licenses. For example, we offer educational/student discount, cross-grade discounts, upgrade, and volume discounts. Please check the documentation for each product to learn more about discounts available for it. We do not, however, have any discounts for rental licenses.
How rental licenses work
To purchase a rental license you need to select the correct option best suited for you on the product's purchase page. Once the license is purchased you are free to download and install the commercial version of the product. You can use online licensing directly, or install a local license server. The license has an automatic expiration date ending with your rental payment's end date. There is a grace period of 5 days added for you to renew the license. This will happen automatically if you do not cancel the subscription. Upon renewal the license server (and online licensing) should automatically extend themselves until the next period. In some cases a re-installation of the license server (such as with offline licenses) may be needed.
Canceling rental licenses
After you buy a rental license it will be automatically billed to your payment method at interval you've chosen during the purchase (e.g. monthly, every 6 months, every year). To stop the license you must manually cancel the payments:
- If you used Paypal: Go to Paypal website, log-in to your account. Go to subscriptions page and cancel the subscription for our product there.
- If you used another payment method such as a credit card: Log-in on our website, go to Account menu, my licenses, and click on Manage Subscriptions. You will be taken to a page from where you can cancel your rental licenses.
