Hello John, We are investigating this issue. In the meantime, you may want to try the Moov Physics modifier for hair simulation instead of Lucid. Jeordanis Figuereo (Product Designer. EPHERE Inc.)
I'm not able to reproduce the crash. Can you please provide the problematic scene for testing? See it working fine here: Having the problematic scene at hand will also help me to figure out why the hair is stretching. Jeordanis Figuereo (Product Designer. EPHERE Inc.)
I was able to reproduce the crash, we are investigating it and will get back to you as soon as possible. Thank you for reporting this issue. Jeordanis Figuereo (Product Designer. EPHERE Inc.)
I will say I am able to use it effectively if the units are set to cm. The problem is in the m units set up for me. It is working with Ornatrix and producing relatively reliable results even on animated mesh in cm units, but I cannot use the Flex help. If I use that it crashes every time.
We've been trying to reproduce the crashes with varying success. It happens on some computers and everything is stable on others. Likely a CUDA driver issue since crashes come from there. Sorry for the inconvenience, we're still investigating this. Marsel Khadiyev (Software Developer, EPHERE Inc.)
Thanks for looking into it. I have problems with Flex and to be honest Lucid wether I use CUDA or Direct. Additionally, I loaded CUDA very recently and my computer is only about 4 months old, 32 cores, and 128GB of RAM so it is well above system requirments. Hopefully, all the bugs can be fixed, as I believe the software has great potential especially for speed. I am still using TyFlow however, as it gives very good results and crashes very rarely; however, it takes a lot of time to set up. Once again, thanks for continuing to investigate.
Can you please clarify exactly which version of the CUDA driver you have installed? Marsel Khadiyev (Software Developer, EPHERE Inc.)
My samples file says version 10.2
So I guess that's the end of the effort to assist with this software which is at best marginally functional. Fabulous.
Hi John, The team is still working on this issue. Marsel will update you on this issue once he have something solid. Jeordanis Figuereo (Product Designer. EPHERE Inc.)
| Investigation so far showed that the crash is in the latest NVidia drivers, while older drivers used to work. For example, on my machine with drivers 411.63 / CUDA 10.0.150 Lucid doesn't crash. We are in a tough situation here, we can't just tell you to downgrade your drivers, and on the other hand it will take a lot of time to resolve the issue if it is indeed on NVidia's side, or if we have to figure out what has changed in the drivers so we can avoid the crash. | Got it, but eventually it will have to be worked out as I suspect at some point all NVIDIA users will update their drivers. |
