Problem

Description:

Four times so far, i got the whole desktop freezed, when playing with Lucid.

I had to push the restet button on the workstation to reboot after waiting some minutes.

But, one comon thing between all three lockups was that it happened when entering the live simulation mode or hitting the record button, after changing some parameter in Lucid's settings. It doesn't look like settings-related freeze, cause the exact same settings where simulating just fine before the freeze. Rather, it happened when entering again the live sim option or pressing the Record button.

I didn't have the patient to wait for the computer to "exit" the freeze, IF that would ever happen and after some minutes i pushed the reset button.

I'm almost certain that these freezes are GPU related and my guess is that it would come very handy the option to ESC and exit ANY command that Lucid sends to the GPU, no matter what, if that leads to solving these frezees...

My workstation has a 970GTX, Max2015. 12 theads, 64GB ram and Win8.1 Pro...

Cheers,
Greg

Steps to Reproduce:

Unfortunatelly, it was not somthing i can reproduce with steps and seem like a random thing.

Thank you for the report Greg. Unfortunately there are a few configurations that make Flex put GPU into a compromising position and we don't get to handle an error like we normally do but instead we get a driver error which can cause system to lockup and reset the whole display driver. It will get better, a few things are already resolved in next build but to fight this we will have to implement preventative measures. The only way to do that is to try and isolate scenarios when lockups do happen and then get to the reason why. So if you manage to find something that reproduces please let us know. We are doing the same on our end.

I have a few (fluid) test scenes that will consistently crash max / windows

Do you mind sharing these with us? We can try to isolate and fix the parts which cause driver issues.
