Problem

Description:

Hi Marsel,

I have found a reproducable crash of 3ds max. I recorded a video to explain a lot better.
In summary: If a user has an active vertex selection for an object, and then applies the 'lucid modifier', 3ds max will crash. I have tested this with the 'cloth' and 'rubber' presets, I assume it happens with all presets that accept a vertice selection.

Steps to Reproduce:

Please see attached videos for reproducable steps.

i wanted to apply a lucid cloth modifier to an object and pin the cloth using the vertices of the object.

  1. Create the object
  2. added some subdivisions using turbosmooth
  3. added edit poly (or mesh select, vol select, etc) to select vertices
  4. Applied the Lucid "cloth" preset

Result:
3ds Max crashes.

Strange, I've been doing the exact same steps as in your video and no crash happens here. Please see if this is still an issue in the upcoming build.

Hi Marsel, I've tested this again in the most recent build 0.3.5.6085 and I still have 3ds Max Crashing.

I have recorded a second video. First I create a box, apply lucid modifier, then go back and make a vertex selection - all great.

now I create a box, make a vertex selection, then apply the lucid modifier - this will crash Max every time.

Toolbar only?

Please note this only seems to occur if I try to add the modifier via the toolbar. If I try to Repeat the steps shown in the video (create box, vertex selection, add modifier) but add the modifier via the modifier stack, everything works fine.

Strange, just tried it here with both the release and debug builds and all works well still. Toolbar is a clue, I will keep thinking about it.

I can confirm this bug...
I had it since the first implementation of point constraints, but quickly forgot about it as i had to work around it...

Pretty bizzare, I will try it on a different machine.
