Problem

Description:

I'm evaluating Lucid on 3ds Max 2015 SP3 on Win 10 64bit with two GTX980 installed, one dedicated to PhysX

I desperately need Lucid to work, it would really save me on my current job. I would buy it as soon as I find out how to use it without crahsing Max.

I cut the simulation down to the simplest setup using lucid, Max will freeze.

Best,

-martin

Steps to Reproduce:

Create PFlow Source

Add Lucid Geometry Modifier to standard flow.

Start simulation

Move timeline

-> Max will become unresponsive

This happens because the default particle size is set to too small a value and cannot be computed accurately with PFlow geometry operator, as it is typically if you use Lucid modifier.

To solve the problem, add the Lucid Flex Settings helper and set the manual radius value to something like 1cm or higher, depending on your scene scale. You can also change the geometry type in PFlow to inflated, for example, to avoid voxelization. It depends on what you want to achieve.

Progress, yes, thank you. It is not frozen any more but pops up the error that the particle limit was exceeded on frame 1(which is 1.3million by default). In my PF I'm using a Birth operator with a fixed amount of 200. The resolution in the flex settings is set to 1.0. Where are the particles coming from?

The particles are generated for each geometry that PFlow produces if you use rigid, soft, or fluid body types. Each object is voxelized and can have many particles in it. The larger manual radius you set for the particles the fewer of them will be per-object. You can see the actual particles if you also add the display operator and set the "Show as particles" option on.

Hmm. Ok. It would generate >35k Particles for a  testcube... Managed to get that under control, thank you.

Here's what I'm trying to achieve: I'generating mixed rocks of different densities (coal vs regular rock) in a pool of water. By rising and falling water levels in the pool the rocks will be sorted(highest density will end up at the bottom). Will Lucid work with the mpBouyancy operator (not a must, would just be nice)?

Figured the most efficient way would be to use rigid bodies, however they seem to have most voxels. Would it be more efficient to use very stiff inflated objects (the animation will not be seen up-close)?

New Problem:

Decided to buy a license as the trial was too painful to work with. So I bought, installed the full version, went through the licensing procedure (local machine, 1 unassigned license was displayed) and am now stuck with a "no license for this product" error. I cannot access anything to retry the authorisation. Do I have to reinstall now?

Please try the steps here: https://www.ephere.com/web/applications/ephere/docs/Installing_a_Floating_License_Server.html

Marsel Khadiyev (Software Developer, EPHERE Inc.)

No, sorry. I will not get the "All X Licenses" button. Instead I get "Previously Licensed Machine"

I downloaded and ran that one. (As Admin, Antivirus off) It will uninstall the previous license, install the new one without any errors.

The Logfile also is quite positive about the results: ...The commit phase completed successfully, The transacted install has completed.

When I run Max it will still tell me "Authorization Error: No license for this product."

How to proceed now?

Strange. Please try running this and let me know what it shows you: https://www.ephere.com/web/applications/ephere/docs/License_Server_Manager.html

Marsel Khadiyev (Software Developer, EPHERE Inc.)

It show two licenses:

ephere.plugins.max.omatrix.3 Expiring 2050

ephere.plugins.max.omatrix.4 Expiring 2016

Screenshot here

That's fine, but it looks like you didn't click the "Install license serfver only" on the Lucid downloads page, have you? In either case, I cleared server cache, please try it again.

Marsel Khadiyev (Software Developer, EPHERE Inc.)

Well, I tried: But as described above, instead of the two links there was only one link available ("previously licensed machine")

In lack of other options, that's what I tried.

After your reset, it is finally working. Thank you.
