Problem

Description:

Ive recently noticed that lucid particle collisions no longer work in any new scenes, old scenes or even the demo example scenes when the collisions obejct is anything other than a simple plane or 6 sided box.  Even spheres dont work as colliders anymore - aswell as any mesh with an uneven surface from modelling or elsewhere etc.

A sphere of particles and sandbox collsions box - simulates and behaves as expected.

Add a simple box to the scene and set to collide - behaves as expected.

Add a sphere and set it to collide - the sphere (or any non flat surface) is ignored.  Sometimes it crashes out all together.

Strange - as ive been using lucid extensively with no issues and this just started to happen.

Im still using max 2014 - could this a build issue?

Thanks

Steps to Reproduce:

Hi Matt, what type of collision type do you use the the sphere: static, convex, or SDF?

I just tried it here and all works as expected. We also have plenty of automated tests to cover collisions and they all work as expected. Perhaps you can upload a scene for me to try? I can try it on Max 2012 right now.

Hey Marsel,

Static no longer works on any geo except for boxes/planar surfaces.  The other options collide but inaccurately - or produce a strange grid pattern.  Its odd, as im working in scenes that previously worked well.  Ive also tried out the example magma flow scene on the site - which doesnt work after loading up and leaving settings alone.

Heres a few grabs from a simple scene.  A sphere and a noise plane.

Tried in 3dsmax 2016 and it works (although the scene behaves differently I think because the units are off, scene is old). I will test in 2014.

I am suspecting this may have to do with drivers or Flex version or something. Just installed and tried it on Max 2014 and all works well there as well in terms of collision objects.

Hey Marsel,

Thanks for looking into it.  Im running on a Titan X card and will try rolling back the drivers and see what happens.

Hi Marcel

Still no luck getting Lucid behaving correctly. I have rolled back drivers - which seems to create different behavior, but my old scene setups that were working great previously still dont work, as well as new simple scenes.

Is it possible to have a team viewer session over the coming wkend?

Thanks

Hi Matt,

I am currently away until Thursday and then will be packing so Siggraph. We have fixed an issue with convex meshes in past few days which should be available in the latest nightly. Please give it a try.

Thanks I'l take a look. Have a great trip!

Hello,

I have a similar issue; I can get Sphere A (Rigid) to fall and collide with Box B (Collision or SDF). But I cannot get Sphere A (Rigid) to collide with Sphere B (Rigid). Basically, collisions between rigids, fluids, soft, and cloth doesn't work.

I have updated my graphics card. And I am on a Titan X using 3ds Max 2017.

We need this for a project so it would be nice to get this sorted asap. I have tried the latest stable build and also the latest Nightly build without success.

Many thanks,

Albin Nilsen
