Just some general info on Video Cards

In my haste to get my hands on Lucid, I installed it and skimmed through the docs. But I could never get it to work. As it turns out, I had not read the documentation well. The docs link to a page for supported video cards; in my haste, I thought that any video card linked from the video card comparison chart were compatible. However, the page linked must be compared with the compute capability version (just like the docs say...).

So that others who are as impatient as me might also read this: It looks like you need at least a 600+ series for Geforce.

Unfortunately for me, my 480 doesn't make the cut. Now we'll see how long I can resist the urge to update the video card.... :)

The wait for a new card begins :)

I had to buy a whole new laptop just for this project too hehe.

Vram is important.

980Ti has 6GB of Vram and is a great deal considering how fast it is. The non Ti version of the 980 has 4GB (which is what I have). 970 has 3.5GB.

The lucky ones with the expensive Titan has 12GB of Vram, though I expect an update soon as it has been out for a while now.

Speaking of VCards.. I too did not read the minimum requirements, but luckily i have a laptop with 740m an a desktop with 4x780 6gb and one 780 3gb...can i tell lucid somehow to use all cards in the system to accelerate calculations? or it does this automatically?
