Hi there, I see that the system units are hard-coded to something, but I can't figure out what they should be in order for the material presets to work properly. What should they be set to for real-world-use? Thanks! |
Lucid should be using 3dsmax scene units which you configure. Marsel Khadiyev (Software Developer, EPHERE Inc.)
I'm getting wildly different results depending on what my system units are set to before I initially setup Lucid. If I start with mm as a system unit, and make a simple round swimming pool with radius of 1.25m and a height of .5m and then drop a box of "water" into it, I wind up with a box of water that reacts like jell-o instead of water. If I do the same test, but this time with system units set to feet, I wind up with water that falls into the pool at the speed of sound and splashes like crazy.
Just tried it here with a simple sphere, first time setting it to 100mm and then 10cm and in both cases the results are identical. Are you switching between units within the same scene while in between simulations, or are you resetting the scene in between? Marsel Khadiyev (Software Developer, EPHERE Inc.)
I'm resetting the scene before changing system units. Unfortunately I'm running the demo version as we're still trying to determine if we can get Lucid to do what we want, so I can't share an example scene, but when I get back into work tomorrow I can post the exact steps I'm doing to get the differing results. Perhaps I can even do a screen record and post it to YouTube if that would help. Thanks again, Jared
Thanks Jared, that would help me a lot (video and/or the steps). Marsel Khadiyev (Software Developer, EPHERE Inc.)
Hi Marsel, I've uploaded a video of the steps I'm using to get vastly different results with Lucid. Please let me know what I'm doing wrong or if it's some kind of bug. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xLyJfNsheK4 Thanks! Jared
Thank you for the video, Jared. I think I reproduced it here. Investigating it now. Marsel Khadiyev (Software Developer, EPHERE Inc.)
Thanks. It seems like the FLEX settings defaults aren't getting properly scaled to the world units, but that's just a guess.
Not only Flex settings. I assume you'd want everything scaled, including meshes. I.e. 1 meter mesh should behave the same regardless if you set 1 unit = centimeter or 1 unit = meter, not just for display. Marsel Khadiyev (Software Developer, EPHERE Inc.)
I implemented scene unit adjustments. It will be available in next version. Marsel Khadiyev (Software Developer, EPHERE Inc.)
