Problem

Description:

Hi,

I have issues importing hair from houdini.

Everything's fine with small hair count, but turns messy with high count.

Thanks for your help.

version 7.0.10.25813

Steps to Reproduce:

Here is a test scene, just pick cache in Hair folder to see what I mean: https://we.tl/t-sYxRmyh8qg

Hello,

I tried importing the alembic files into 3ds Max using the File->Import menu, set the file type to Ornatrix Alembic. This will import the file as an Ox Baked Hair modifier. There I increased the Viewport Percentage to 100% and the fur looks fine:

I also tried the files found in the Guides folder. Both works fine. Is this not what you are expecting it to look? If not, can you post a screenshot of how it looks in Houdini? You can also try with the latest nightly build.

Hi, thanks for the reply,

I forgot to mention that the issue is with file sequence animation (#### padding), things got bad when you move to frame 1, hairs jumps to the wrong place.

Attached a screenshot of frame 1.

Thanks for your help.

Hi,

There is no animation in the alembic files, so I cannot test that. Also, can you resave it for Max 2020 please?

By the way, maybe you want to send me the scene directly and not share it here. You can send it to jeordanis .f (at) ephere .com.

Hi, there is indeed a slight animation in the file sequence between frames 0 and 1.

You can see it by loading the guide cache.

I uploaded only 2 frames because of the file size.

I can't save as max 2020 right know cause I'm not at work. But the scene was simple, import ornatrix alembic + animation cache modifier pointing on the same sequence with frame padding ####
