Problem

Description:

3dsmax crashes when I select an object with the wireframe view displayed.
In some scenes, 3dsmax may crash just by displaying the wireframe view.

I'm using 3ds Max 2021.3 Update.

Steps to Reproduce:

Thank you for your report. Please provide us the Ox .log file and the dump file that is generated after the crash. You should find both in:

`C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Temp\`

Thanks for the reply.
I have uploaded the file, please check it.

Attached Files:

Thanks for the update.
This issue was not resolved in version 7.3.3.29748.
It may be a version compatibility issue since the error occurred with objects created in previous versions.
Thank you for your support.

The error in the .log file that you uploaded was fixed in revision 29630, i.e. it is included in stable 7.3.3.

I just tried adding hair to a sphere with wireframe viewports (and by default the ortographic viewports are wireframe, so if you work in 4 views you always have some wireframe), selected it, there's no crash.

Could you upload a .log and .dmp again with 7.3.3 ?

Thanks for the reply.
I have uploaded the file, please check it.

Please try changing the hair display to "Lines" or "Mesh" and see if that makes a difference:

https://ephere.com/plugins/autodesk/max/ornatrix/docs/7/Hair_and_Guide_Viewport_Display.html

My suspicion is that this is a display-related issue.

Thanks for the reply.

I tried changing the hair display to "line" or "mesh", but both gave me errors.

I will upload the logs for each, please check them.

Please try with the latest nightly build, 7.3.3.29830

<span>Thanks for the reply.</span>

I tried the latest nightly build, 7.3.3.29830.
I tried changing the display to "line", "mesh", and "optimized mesh".
As a result, the scene crashed when using "mesh" and "optimized mesh".
Sometimes it crashed and sometimes it didn't when I used "line".
When creating a new Hair in a new scene, no problems occurred.
The error occurred when I opened the file I had originally created.
The version of Ornatrix when I created that file was 7.2.2.
I verified this on two computers.
I am attaching the Dump file and the log file of the computers.
Thank you for your confirmation.

Attached Files:

>3dsmax_minidump__line__a.dmp (5535805 bytes), >3dsmax_minidump__line__b.dmp (4975189 bytes), >Ornatrix3dsMax2021__line__a.log (51984 bytes), >Ornatrix3dsMax2021__line__b.log (25124 bytes), >warning.bmp (747030 bytes),

If the crash only happens with a specific scene, not with newly created hair, then we'll need that scene to reproduce the crash.

If possible, please strip the scene of anything not related to the crash, zip it, and attach it here if it's not too big or e-mail it to ivan.kolev at ephere com

This is the scene data where the error occurs.
I have tested with Ornatrix version 7.3.3.29830.
The error did not occur with version 7.2.2.27797.

Please verify.

Thank you very much.

Thank you for the provided scene.

The bug should be fixed in the next nightly build, revision number 29866 or later.
