Problem

Description:

Mirrored eyebrow comb doesn't work using the symmetry modifier, When tried to disable the ground strand feature then add another separate ground strand modifier on top, it works. However after saving and re-opening the file, it doesn't work again. It's back to the same error. This happen when the model is rigged with biped and it's turning to other direction.

I'm on 3ds max 2021 & Ornatrix version 6.3.6.25630

I found some other user posting this same problem in another thread, is this not fixed yet? I'm at the final 3 days of my production and was suprised to find this problem after rendering. Please help.

Thanks!

Steps to Reproduce:

Actually it's not just the symmetry that doesn't work, it's the ground strand that doesn't work. I tried converting the strands to splines then use strand from shape, then add ground strand on top. The moment I rotate the bone, the comb is not working correctly anymore.

Hello,

Please share a simplified version of your scene for testing. You can send it to jeordanis.f (at) ephere .com.
Have in mind that any fix will be implemented in Ornatrix V7 and V8. V6 is not in development anymore.
However, I will try to find a workaround so you can finish your project.

Hi,

Thanks, here's a very simple example. as you can see when you move the time to frame 30, when the character turns to face other direction, the hair flips.

I'd love to know if the new version works on this for sure since symmetry is a time saver to groom eyerbows & lashes. except of course when it doesn't then I have to go and replant roots for the other sides then regroom all of them, especially when the model has already been approved by client. Sorry forgot to click the upload button after attaching the file.

Here it is.

Thank you for the scene. I'm investigating this.

Actually this is not a bug. That is how our procedural mirroring works. The solution is to bake the symmetry modifier.

Hi, unfortunately I believe this function is only for a new version of Ornatrix right?

I can't find it anywhere on this version of Ornatrix I'm currently running.

Correct, that is for new versions.

In that case you can try collapsing the hair stack up to the Symmetry modifier.
