| Sounds like you might need to add the OX Render Settings Modifer below your Vray Modifer. Do you have that in the stack? Thanks Michael |
| Hello Michael, Thank you for the response sir, hoping to get to the bottom of this. Yes, I had added that afterwards, as the video tutorial recommended to further edit the strands. In fact, I just created a fresh test scene and got the same results, here are some screenshots:

| Not sure if I should post this as a seperate thread: I'm noticing Max is crashing occasionally while using the features of the demo? For example, while having that above scene open, I just clicked the Max icon in the top-left to reset the scene, and Max crashed. That rarely if ever has happened before. I'm wondering if the build I downloaded is the issue here? |
| Update: I reinstalled the demo and at the end of the installation I had forgotten that this window pops up: http://d.pr/i/qNZP The first time I clicked, "This program installed correctly". This time I chose recommended settings. I am still having the same results though. I have sent a message via their install support about the window that showed up after installation. I'm hoping to get an answer here or by e-mail for some guidance about the rendering problem. |
| Hello, Regarding the installer that is message is OK under Windows 7. It should not have any effect on the installation itself. I am not sure what culd be the cause for your Max crashes. If you can reproduce any of them please let me know. Also try to take out Ephere.Plugins.Autodesk.Max.Ornatrix.dlo file and see if it still happens. If it does then it could be not Ornatrix causing them. Regarding VRay, please make sure you that have installed the correct VRay plugin. There are two versions of it- one for Ornatrix 1.8 and one for Ornatrix 2. You need the latter one. With Vray 2.x installers you should be able to choose which one to install. | Wow. That was it, different versioning. I just tested 1.8 and it works like a charm. I just need to update my VRay version to work with the latest Ornatrix version. Thank you so much Marsel, have a good rest of the week! |
| Hey guys. Sorry to bring up an old thread but I am having the exact same problems as posted above. I am trying to play with the demo version but I cant seem to get the hair to render once I disable the atmosphere effect. I have both the "VRayOrnatrixMod" and "OX Render Settings" modifer's turned on but none of the hair appears in the render.
Reading this thread it appears you guys solved this by either switching to the correct vray plugin for the corresponding version of Ornatrix? Sorry but I don't quite understand this. I have vray adv 2.20.02 installed and I've tried to use all versions of Ornatrix that are up on the download page. ( 2.2.3.0 to 2.2.8.0)
Where can I find Ornatrix 1.8? Is this the version I should be using? Or should I be using a different version of vray?

| Hi Mikezoo. Yeah it seem that 1.8 has been removed from the Downloads page, so you'll need to update V-Ray to version 2.4. ChaosGroup provides free updates last I checked. Good luck. |
