Title:Push away from mesh

Problem

Description:

does nothing

Steps to Reproduce:

add hair, comb it then click 'push away from mesh'

so I figured that the strands have to be selected for this to work - but then the first section of the strand up to the first tick is usually not affected in a predictable or desirable way. Using auto is a little more predictable but it still has the section up to the first tick laying flat or mangled in some weird orientation.

DUDES! logged this defect in August! More exclamation marks!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Would be great of this feature worked!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Any chance you could fix it?

Howdy Cameron,

On testing this we were not able to reproduce your issue. Using Push Away or auto seams to work ok. Could you provide a simple scene with some steps to reproduce what your seeing please?

Thanks

Michael

I am marking this inconclusive for now. Please send us a scene or more steps so we can reproduce the issue.

Here are a couple of clips that demonstrate this feature is clearly broken

It does not work at all on guides generated from splines and works poorly with regular guides

Thank you for posting the videos, they were helpful.

In the first video the push away button didn't work because it will ony push away the selected strands. I have already modified this to push everything away for the future. In the second video, since the strands are selected, it is pushing them away the distance which you specified. So the feature is working correctly, I would just suggest reducing the distance to a smaller value so that the pushing out is not as dramatic.
