Problem

Description:

Using vray as renderer and rendering hair as vray hair prims.

1- excluding hair objects from light has no effect on hair object whatsoever.(any standard light as well as vray lights, exception MR photometric light in the scene crashes the scene entirely).

2 - "visible to camera" checkbox while unchecked produces straneg artifacts.

Please find attached below some images which hopefully help describe the issues.

Thank you.

In case this can help anyone, we use the following method to solve these problems:

Hair produces black splotches when "Not visible to camera"  --> Increase in Vray Global switches the "Max transp. levels" to 300

Light exclude/include  --> A fur object is created at render time, therefore it cannot be excluded from any light, the workaround is to create a light that includes everything else. The fur object will remain on the left column, being effectively excluded from the light at render time.
