Problem

Description:

I've been editing A LOT the guides to achieve the results wanted. Program (max) crashed and I've lost ALL the comb information, gettin' a really mess result.

Yell

Steps to Reproduce:

Did the crash happen while editing guides? Do you have a backup scene somewhere?

Marsel Khadiyev (Software Developer, EPHERE Inc.)

Thanks for your answer.

No, I wasn't editing the guides. As I opened the file again, all the guides were not in the position I got, so the hairs (feathers in this case) were in a really mess state. Does It mean that the plugin doesn't shave the information properly?? I'm doing again all the comb works. And I hope it won't happen again...

I don't have a OX comb modifier either.

No. I don't have a back up. If I open the autoback file, I have same results... I have previous files but in an earlier condition

It sounds like your underlying distribution mesh topology might have changed after your scene crash. Do you use any modifiers before Ox Guides From Surface? For Edit Guides it is important that the guide count does not change after you make your changes. Would it be possible to send me the scene?

Marsel Khadiyev (Software Developer, EPHERE Inc.)

If you mean OX modifers, I don't. I have the usuals mods on the mesh, turbosmooth, skin... I didn't change anything in the scene. What I mean is that you'll lost all your work after you close Max.

I have other similar scenes, and if you have a OX Comb, the hair form remains well, but if not... So I think you have to get an OX Comb modifier to remain the form you've achieved

I can't send you the scene. I would like to report that when you use edit guides without the ox comb mod; once you close Max or when it chrashes, you 'll open the file again and you will lost all your work. Even if you try to recover it with the autoback files, you won't get the scene as you had.

I hope everything will be clear now.

Cheers

So did you use Ox Surface Comb or Ox Edit Guides in this case? Do you think you can reproduce this issue in a blank scene? That would actually be extremely useful to isolate and fix the problem.

Marsel Khadiyev (Software Developer, EPHERE Inc.)

No no no. I've been using both and the chaos happens when i close the program...

I've sent you already a capture of the screen so you can see what I mean.

Cheers
