Description:

Both the Guides from surface and distribution map are causing undesired results is 3.1.0.8 and 3.1.0.7.

When a UV map is applied the distribution is non uniform or one side has a lot more roots. When UV is cleared the distribution is fine. When using a distribtion map it leaves out some UV shells. I tested the UV's for errors and they look fine.

I noticed a few other threads here with similar problems but there is no resolutions posted?

Steps to Reproduce:

- Add hair to selection (with UV)

- check Vetex distribution?

- Clear UV and check Vetex distribution?

I have uploaded a 3dmax scene with stock teapot and UV's with the same error I am getting on my head model. It appears that when the model has a UV the vertex distribution is messed up and when the UV is cleared (or seams) the vertex distribution is fine. This problem carries over to the distribution map causing the problem I have posted previously.

 

Am I missing something here? I thought that the original UV's of the model would carry over to the ornatix hair so a distribution and color map could be painted on the underlying original model and used on the hair. any UV map is not distributing the roots evenly. Also another strange issue is in most cases root distribution favours the screen right hand side more than the left or just one UV island is very thinnly populated(as seen in my original post).

 

Also it would be great to see a tutorial workflow of someone using ornatrix on a character in a production type environment from start to finish so I can tell if I am using the correct workflow (I have seen the ones on your youtube but a bit scattered and hard to follow a full workflow).

In this scene you have the Mesh Guide Channle assigned and that is what is getting used instead of the map. If you click on the channel plug and disconnect it, it should work as expected.
