Title:Scaling fur geometry crashes renders

Problem

Description:

This happens with animated characters.

We used a point cached copy of the animated mesh to generate the fur.

When the animators have scaled the character down to a small size (let's say to a 10% of its original size), and logically the point cached copy of it also scales down, the render simply crashes after taking the whole RAM of the system.

The render with a normal scale takes usually 8-9 GB, when the character is scaled down, it uses 32GB.

Steps to Reproduce:

- have an animated character that is scaled down to 5-10% of its size
- the fur will be generated on a point cached copy of the mesh
- render a frame after the character has been scaled down.

Hello,

Can you please clarify the "scaled down" part? Did you use 3dsmax scale tool or are you just applying point cache which reduces the size of the object?

Also, does this only happen in the complex setup you mentioned or is reproducible from scratch? It would be very helpful to have a scene where this is happening to try and debug.
