Something went wrong with my installation for the Max 2016 version. First I´ve installed the latest 4.0 Beta version of Ornatrix. After realizing that I have no licence for that version I´ve deinstalled it again and downloaded the 3.3 version and installed that. Scanline rendering is ok. But with MR there are no Hairs only some shadows.

I wanted to check how this behaves in Max 2014 and saw that it was deinstalled. Is that done by your installer? I´ve installed the demo for 2014 again and there the MR rendering is ok.

I´ve written a reply shortly after yours, but somehow it´s not showing up in the thread.
So I try it once again, maybe producing a doublepost.
After enabling the show/log options in the rendering preferences the MR message window shows a bunch of information in black color.
But the first two line are in red color and reads:

MSG  0.0     11 MB error: Custom translation interface for mtl/tex '  ( Ox Geo Hair (mentalRay) )': Shader declaration "ox_geo_hair" not found.
MSG  0.0     11 MB error: Custom translation of instance 'Object001': failed to translate the geometry shader.

I have the MR geometry shader placeholder object in the scene and it shows the correct hair object on the "Source Hair" labeled button.

Finally I placed the OrnaMR.mi and the OrnaMR.dll files in the "shaders_3rdparty" folder where they used to be in the earlier versions and linked them in the 3rdparty.mi.

And that seems to be the solution to the problem. Ornatrix MR rendering is up and running again :-).

I´m just wondering why nobody else had described the error so far. Am I the only MR user with Ornatritx?

Strange indeed. There are others who use MR. I will try it on my computer with a fresh install as well.

It´s getting strange indeed. I´ve tried to fix also the 2015 version with the same procedure, but no luck. Then I thought maybe a reinstall could help.

When I choose the offline version and execute the downloaded .exe a warning tells me that not enough system resources are available. On top, my

Avira Virus Scanner tells me that a programm named HEUR/APC (Cloud) is going to infect my computer. System resources are plenty and the Avira message

seems to be a Avira specific problem. I also tried the web installer with and without installation of the licence server. But all failed. Only the deinstallation of the

2014 demo version and installation of the 3.3 version succeeded. The point that bothers me is that, I had established a workflow with the pupped Hair shader and

the pMegaTK_pass. Ornatrix, MR, Puppet Hair shader and Puppet Passes are running in 2014. Ornatrix with MR doesn´t run in 2015 but (with the relocated .mi and. dll) it does in 2016. Unfortunately the pMegaTK_pass shader seems to evoke a crash of Max 2016.

To make the confusion complete, I´ve put the OrnaMR.mi and the OrnaMR.dll in the shaders_standard folder of Max 2015 and linked them up.

And guess what -  it works!

So now I´ve a running Ornatrix 3.3 with MR and Puppet Hair shader and Megatk passes in Max 2015.

That the Megatk Pass shader doesn´t run in 2016 seems to be on behalf of the shader. Currently there is  no valid version for Max 2016.
