Hi,

Are you using a 64bit version of Max 2013?

Jeordanis Figuereo (Product Designer. EPHERE Inc.)

Yes.

Thank you. We will take a look into this, I'll keep you updated.

Jeordanis Figuereo (Product Designer. EPHERE Inc.)

No, thank you for the quick reply!

Please try the 5.2.6.13092 nightly build. It should fix the broken loading in Max 2013 - 2015. If it works well, we'll update the stable build.

Thank you, that fixed it!

Here's a list of other minor bugs I've found so far:

- Soft selection is not very functional, especially when using inch for system units
- Surface Comb doesn't respect group id's. It's all or nothing
- Grooms function does not work (see attached photo)

Is it appropriate for me to report them here or in a new thread?

- Also, the Brush Attenuation and Strand Attenuation pop out buttons don't function

- Ox Strand Clustering modifier does not work. Additionally, the Curling Along Strand value curve doesn't reflect the results of the pop out button.

I think a lot of these errors are due to V6 alpha code leaking into current nightlies. We will need to merge back the fix into the V5 code and make a stable release. Please stay tuned for that.

Indeed, the setup of nightly builds actually used our main devevelopment branch, i.e. past V5. We'll have to fix that.

For now I have uploaded 5.2.6.13143 which is a "true" V5 build with the applied fix for Max 2011-2015. Please give it a try.

Thank you guys! Ox Strand Clustering works now! The other issues didn't resolve, but that's okay. They're minor. The tool is fantastic and I'm real excited about using it. Thanks for all your help.

What exactly do you mean by "Grooms function does not work" ? When does the error on the screenshot appear? Is it when you use the "Create / Add Hair" option from the Ornatrix main menu? I just tried that and didn't get any error. This is a serious bug if it really doesn't work.

The rest of the issues sound like features that will be added to the next major version, not supposed to be present in V5 (for example the Brush Attenuation and Strand Attenuation curves will be upgraded to the new curve control in V6).

With no objects selected, clicking "Create/Add Hair" in the main menu or the floating toolbar brings up that error message. It has happened with every version I installed.

Besides the error message from "OxCreateGroom" here's the maxscript listener message when selecting "Generate Groom" from toolbar:

Ornatrix Error: Qt is not supported on this 3dsmax version. Please use 'OxGenerateGroom $ filePath' command directly.
. Please use 'OxGenerateGroom $ filePath' command directly.

Yes, this behavior is expected in 3dsMax 2013. It comes with an older version of the Qt library which Ornatrix cannot use, so some of the new functionality that relies on Qt needs to fall back to much simpler implementation.

To create hair you need to have a distribution object selected. Admittedly, the error message about that could be better.

3dsMax 2014 uses a Qt version that is supported by Ornatrix.

It's not a feature that really appeals to me anyways so it's not a deal breaker. Thanks for all of your time and effort helping out, Ivan and Marsel!
