Hi, I think this is because you are using the hair preset un Lucid, please try another preset. Jeordanis Figuereo (Product Designer. EPHERE Inc.)
When you add a lucid modifier, you can't change the preset type, it's disabled in the combo box. I think there is an other reason.
Hi, From what I see in the image the preset is behaving like guide hairs, this is why the roots are not being simulated, just like hairs attached to the scalp. Before adding the preset click and hold in the Lucid modifier button on the Lucid toolbar, then choose another preset other than hair. Jeordanis Figuereo (Product Designer. EPHERE Inc.)
This is not working at all, you can't add a lucid modifier from the toolbar to an object with "Ox Guides from surface" modifier. I have a sphere with "Ox Guides from surface" modifier and if I try to add any lucid preset from the toolbar, it won't add. The only way to add a lucid modifier is from the "Modifier list" combo box in 3dsmax interface.
I'm not sure I understand what you need. This bent effect is how the hair simulation works, there is a point from where the guides remain static to avoid penetration with the scalp. You want the whole guide to fall to the floor? Jeordanis Figuereo (Product Designer. EPHERE Inc.)
I want to control where the guide remains static, I couldn't find a parameter to make less particles static, for example make 1 or 2 particles only static.

| Hey, sorry, this email got burried. Try reducing the Rigid Slide Count and Rigid Overlap in Rigid constraints section. But I think we should have a dedicated parameter to change the particle position like we have in Maya. Try this, let me know how it works for you, then I will see what we can do. | Not working, still can't control where the simulation starts at the guide level. usually 7 particles remain static but I can't find a parameter to change this. There is also one annoying thing that happens when adding a "Guides from surface" to any mesh object. after adding the modifier the mesh disappears in the viewport, is this a bug ? |
| Not working, still can't control where the simulation starts at the guide level. Ok, let me investigate and I will get back to you. There is also one annoying thing that happens when adding a "Guides from surface" to any mesh object. after adding the modifier the mesh disappears in the viewport, is this a bug ? This is not a bug, this is how it works: Normally Ornatrix create an instance of the distribution mesh and hides the original, all this happens internally in the modifier stack, something like a branch is created. This changes if you add GuidesFromSurface manually. If you don't want this behavior you should use the Quick Hair button and delete all the modifiers on top of GuidesFromSurface if you don't need them. Jeordanis Figuereo (Product Designer. | Hi, We added a parameter to change the particle holder position, please try the latest release: https://ephere.com/plugins/autodesk/max/lucid/forums/builds/thread_6011.html Jeordanis Figuereo (Product Designer. EPHERE Inc.) |
When I click the simulate button, Max crashes ! I have 3dsmax 2016
Humm... Right, I tested in Max 2018 but I can reproduce this in 2016. I suggest to go back to a working version while we fix this. Thanks for the report. Jeordanis Figuereo (Product Designer. EPHERE Inc.)
Hi, Sorry, I forgot to notify you that the cause of this crash was eliminated. Please try the latest available version of Lucid. Jeordanis Figuereo (Product Designer. EPHERE Inc.)
