Problem

Description:

Hi there,
I've seen that Hair clustering doesn't properly work anymore and that it has been replaced by ox Clumps.
My problem is that, at least in my version, Clump curves section is just three white boxes (amount, twist and size) and I can't do anything with them. They're just not usable options.
I can't see the ox Clumps in the docs here, but I looked in the Maya Docs and it really looks like it's just the usual curves that would be expected.
Is this happening to somebody else, or is there a way to fix it?
Thanks

Steps to Reproduce:

Hi Julen,

Have in mind that Ox V6 is still in beta, so the documentation for this version is incomplete. What build of V6 are you using? You should be able to create guide clumps by selecting the "Guides" in the Clump Create Method. I just tried here and it's working well.

Hi Jeordanis, thanks for the quick reply, specially on a Sunday.

Hi, I think I haven't explained my problem correctly, I didn't mean guides, I was refering to this section here, in the picture, about the curves. As you see I get a white preview of the curves and can not select anything there.

I guess it should be working similar to what could be done in Hair Clustering, which I found very useful.

My version is 6.0.14.16701
I've seen there are newer ones now, I haven't downloaded any yet. If it is working in the latest I'll try to instal that one.

Thanks

Oh I understand now. I don't have this problem on Max 2017, 2018 or 2019. What version of Max are you using?

Jeordanis Figuereo (Product Designer. EPHERE Inc.)

I see, that might be the problem after all, as I am using 3dsMax 2016.

If I download a more recent version of max, would I have any problem installing ornatrix lisence there? It's probably a dumb question but it's better to be sure...

Clump curves should be working on all Max versions in latest version of V6, did you try it?

Marsel Khadiyev (Software Developer, EPHERE Inc.)

Hi, yeah, I've just tried it. Curves are working but my file doesn't open as it should now. Looks like some Edit modifiers have been afected, and I'll need to redo them. I can edit the curves though, thanks.

Hi,
I uninstalled and reinstalled the previous version. I'm going to keep it this way, until I finish the project, and then update. Good to see that the clumps work in the newest version, but I just needed it for the eyelashes, and right now it's not worth it to sacrifice the work put in the rest.
Thanks for the help.

Hi,

Can you try turning ON Remember Roots Positions and save in the previous version, then open in a recent version? This function is on Guides From Surface.

Jeordanis Figuereo (Product Designer. EPHERE Inc.)

Hi,
I've just tried. It looks like it works, not sure if it is 100% the same result, but I think it has to do with the clumps, I'd say the guides are in fact in their places.
However, I had one piece already with baked guides and it has gone crazy. It's not the first time though, with the prevuous version, before updating I tried to bake some guides and some were totaly broken after closing and opening the file. I've written a report on that. This pieces was opening fine, but it looks like with the new version it has gone all over the place too.
Anyway that's another issue, Ox Clumps have been fixed and it looks like updating to a newer version hasn't changed those specific guides.
Thanks
