hi, its possible to limit hair properties by length? because now long and short hair move exactly same, but shor hair should not move at all thanks |
Hi Frodo, For short and long hairs in the same hair object, you can do that by using a Strand Detail modifier with the "Sample by Length" option. This will make shorter hair strands have fewer points than longer strands, so they will behave differently during the simulation. The Detail modifier has to be below Moov Physics in order to affect the simulation. Use the "Distance" parameter below the "Sample by Length" option to change the sampling density and roughly adjust the desired hair stiffness. After that, use the Moov simulation controls to fine tune the simulation. Best regards, Nikolay
i tried this already but it always crash :)
Hi Frodo, I couldn't reproduce the crash. What versions of Max and Ornatrix are you using? Best regards, Nikolay
latest 6.1.4.18996 and max 19.3 I will send you a max file with my setup but on monday, I'm not at work
Please try latest stable 6.1.5 first, this may fix the crash.
nope:( crash without prompt.... but not always :)
Could you send a scene that causes the crash?

i do some tests and the problem is strand detail modifier. it crashes everytime the strand detail modifier is under moov physics and captured by strand animation .... maybe someone should move this thread to bug report
The crash is fixed in the new nightly build, 6.1.5.19154. Please try it and let me know if the problem still exists. Thank you for taking the time to report and test! Regards, Nikolay
thanks, no crashes anymore. but sometimes after recording via strand animation all strands beco mashed up :(
