"Ground Strands" messes up the guides.

Hello,

I was using Guides from Shape and Ground Strands,
a problem occured.

After choosing a scalp as base surface,
when I hit "Roots Detached" button,
hair splines move to the ground and guides get messed up.
If I hit "Roots Detached" again to enable it,
the splines stay on the ground.

I doublechecked that I've reset X-Form of both of the splines and the sculp.

What am I doing wrong ?

I tried doing this with V6.3.5.24029 and V7.0.10.25420,
but no luck.

Hello,

In cases like these reseting the x-form should fix the issue but I see that it does not work for you. Please send me this scene for testing and debugging so we can fix this issue. You can send it to jeordanis. f (at) ephere.com. Remember to include a link to this thread.

Hello,

I got your message.
Thanks for the help!

Hello,

Here is a workaround to solve this issue. This information has been added to the documentation for Ornatrix V7 here

  1. Select the Spline Curves and go to Hierarchy tab and turn on Affect Pivot Only.
  2. Activate the Align Selection tool and set Current Object and Target Object to Pivot Point, then click OK. This will align the pivot of the spline curves to the pivot of the scalp.
  3. Open the Transform Tools from the Edit menu and click the R to Reset X-Form.
  4. Add hair to the spline curves and ground it as usual using Ground Strands modifier.

Fixed:

The roots are moving but is expected because they don't lie on the surface of the mesh.

It worked, thank you !!
