Hair placement control using guide faces distribution

I'm trying to get the results as same as in following tutorial but I can't. I don't know if it is because I'm doing something wrong or it is some sort of bug in software. Please help me to resolve this issue.

I think you forgot to include the head or a scalp in the scene. We need it for testing.

Right away I noticed that the guides are not grounded. You need to set a distribution mesh(head or scalp) and attach the roots:

Second, I noticed that you have a very low hair count:

Keep experimenting with the Iterations parameter, the hair count and you may need to add a distribution/multiplier map to define the area where the hair should grow. That will help you define a better hair line.
