Hello, Atm I'm working on a client project where I have to recreate an artist's real-life work in 3D. I'm new to Ornatrix and I've been trying all day to get this to work but I'm having trouble getting the hairs in the right position. The hairs need to be in a sort of birds nest shape. In real life she made a sort of ponytail from hairs and put that in a circle, so doing something similar in 3ds max makes sense to me but I would like to get some help with this. Can someone tell me what would be the best way to approach this?

Hi, The simplest way to approach this is as you described: Generate a braid using polygons and then use Hairs from Mesh Strips operator to convert it to Ornatrix hair. Jeordanis Figuereo (Product Designer. EPHERE Inc.)

Thanks for your response. I'm not completely sure what you mean, what would the mesh need to look like to get the same shape as in the reference? A braid is usually something that's in and over each other right?

I think I managed by myself quite well actually. It's not perfect but it doesn't have to be exactly the same. The only question I have now is how do I increase the cylinder sides of the hair? I cannot find the setting, now the hairs only have three sides and I have to turbosmooth it, but that's slow.

Ornatrix makes the cylinder via the Mesh from Strands modifier, but I can't find the setting to increase it

Never mind, I thought it was necessary to get good render quality but it renders just fine. I'm quite happy with the result. Made the hairs thinner and increased the count so I didn't look like hay so much |
