I'm trying a demo version of ornatrix plugin. I must say the results are beaultiful!

I got a few problems with brushing the hair, sometimes seems like the brush have no effect on the guides...

And i also don't know if i have to do something before, but i'm trying to render big hair amounts ( 100.000, is not that much ) and the render time is absurd, it don't render basically.

are those "demo version" issues?

Is there something i can do to get it better?

Thanks!

Hi Mariano,

Sorry for the delay. Are you using the VRay hair primitive to render with VRay or just converting the hair to geometry? Can you describe this process ib more detail?

Also if you can list the steps to reproduce the brushing issue it would be very helpful.

Thank you for trying out Ornatrix.

If you get some message like "unloading geometry" above the progress bar and it renders forever, go into the render settings of max, select the "Settings" tab, go into the "V-Ray::System" section and change the "Dynamic memory limit" to something bigger.

Good Luck!

I've done a lot of testing with the same scene for about 2 hours (Demo plugin). It was rendering fast but now I'm also experiencing super long rendertimes.

At render time the RAM being used goes from 2.38 GB to 6.30GB for only 10'000 hairs.

I'm using MRprime and the VrayOrnatrixMod with a VrayHairMat.

I suppose the full version doesn't do that sort of thing.

That is strange. So at first it was rendering without using up so much RAM? What if you restart Max, does it go back to rendering fast? Not sure if this could be Ornatrix or VRay issue.

Hi EPHERE,

Sadly I did not note down the RAM usage before the problem started.

I'm using the demo so I can't save the file to check if that would help.

It's not urgent/important on my side since I'm just testing the plugin for the fun of it. I just hope this helps you.

Good luck!

No worries, thanks for your time.
