The back of my hair looks too redundant for hair cards, I was thinking of selecting the group and randomizing the cards to different group number so I can set the UV shells for a different texture area in a rendered texture.  Anyone have an idea on how I can do this?

I figured something out.  Using a Generate Guide Data, with a group selected, can randomize into new groups.

Yes. You can also generate a Strand Channel with the Generate Guide Data modifier set to Random mode. You can also generate random strand groups if that is what you need.
