render time in ORNATRIX!

Hello, I want to make a short animation of about 10 seconds, the problem is that in Vray GPU version 6, the calculation time before each rendering is 8 minutes, and the final rendering is 1 minute! What should I do to optimize time or solve this problem? Should I use a special hair modifier? Thanks

Hello,

The translation time will depend on the hair detail like strand count, point count and amount of modifiers recalculating the hair deformations at each frame.

8 minutes sound like a lot though. If you can provide your scene for testing(send it to jeordanis.f (at) ephere .com.) I can take a look into it to determine if this is a bug.

Hi,

I'm currently experiencing a similar issue like the one Jafargo wrote: I'm working on a bird with feathers (body only) using the Ox Strand Propagation modifier and when I try to rise the parameters (for propagation and hair counts respectively) the translation time is very high compared to the actual frame rendering time (the memory usage is very low, around 5GB on my 64GB ram workstation, but cpu usage during translation goes from 15% to 25% max). Is this a normal behaviour? Is there any way to cache the propagation calculation? Is there any way to increase the cpu cores usage to speed up the process?

Hi,

Please provide your scene for testing and debugging. Is the only way we can address this issue. My email address is above. Please include a link to this post.

Thank you very much for answering Jeordanis, I'll setup a simplified .max scene to send to you for testing. Thank you again.
