It works correctly on my tests. Are you setting the Channel Display option? Or perhaps you have some viewport settings that I don't know about. I added my test scene for you to try it. Let me know how it goes.
so it must some viewport setting cos it still doesn't show up. what viewport setting i should change to? i use standard viewport setting and haven't changed anything
Edged Faces causes a couple problems with Ornatrix hair display. That is the only setting(that I'm aware of) can could be causing this. Did you try my scene?
Yes I am and for some reason it worked on 2021 which is fine. i want to know if there's any way to export the vertex color data to unreal engine and use it as an additional color information?
WHen you export Ornatrix Alembic you have the option to export the strand channels data.
This data will be included in the file but to be honest I don't know how to use it in the UE shading network. I'm not very familiar with shading in UE yet.
I will investigate and get back to you if I can find something.
ok i got back to max 2020 and set the display mode to optimized and it works now, thanks, also it'd be great if we have a feature to export the vertex color to unreal engine and mix with shader base color,
