I'm having problems working with baked guides. It seems that when i place a hair from guides modifier on top of the baked guides hairs dont get created. Here's a screenshot for you guys to see what's going on. I'm using 3ds max 2013 and the latest demo version and this happens on both my computers. Am I missing something?

Thanks!

Did you assign a distribution object to the baked guides? You might also need to add a ground strands modifier on top of it to "ground" the guides onto the mesh.

That solved the problem. Thanks a lot! But I have another problem with guides that I thought had relation with the previous one so I didnt ask, but the problem persist.

I start with few guides, comb them, then add a hair from guides, select guides instead of hair, increase the guide count and then I add an edit guide to comb the guides but this time with more guides (I dont know if I'm being clear). I repeat the process till I'm satisfied with the hairdo and the guide count. The thing is that when I render the hair it doesnt render what I see on the viewport, the hair is all messed up. Here's a screen capture with the viewport and the render. I'm following the "making of Stan" video on youtube and the guy gets the hair right.

Hello Adrian,

If you make sure your veiwport and render count of the Hair from Guides modifer (the one producing guides) are the same amount, it should work AOK. The issue you see here is that additional guides are being created at render time.

Thanks
