Hi, I've been testing ornatrix for a while now, deciding wheter to get it or not, and I have to say I'm really missing some features that I find quite important. the grooming from splines is really convoluted right now and it could benefit with an upgrade, it doesnt make any sense the way it works now, is not interactive and overall feels quite a painful process.. cheers! | Howdy Alex, So basically the workflow is to use Guides From Shape on your splines and then Ground them. After that you can brush them and work with the guides interactively. How can we make the workflow better? Thanks Michael |
| Hi Michael, appreciated the quick reply! So I managed so far to add the guides from shape and ground them to the object. when I do that, most of the times the guides change position in space and sometimes lay flat on the geometry... then when it does work, I manage to brush them with the brush but what I wanna do is have those original splines live on my scene, so I can just select them, select any vertex and move it or even add new vertex on the splines and see the results interactive in the viewport. A bit the same thing as doing a spline, copying it as reference, adding a lathe modifier to the reference, and then modifying the original curve to see the final lathed object change...it works like that with hair and fur from max and sometimes ( if not most of the time ) I find it way better to control the shape of the hair than with brushes... as a side note, have you guys tried yeti? i know is for maya only, but it has some awesome workflow and maybe you could get some ideas to add to ornatrix... |
| The issue you descibe with the hair moving is usualy do to an Xform issue on the mesh or splines. Try resetting the Xform on both and you should be all set. Thanks Michael |
| Also you can go in and edit the spline after to adjust the shape etc. |
| Michael, that seems to work quite perfect now, I'll explore this more, it opens a new world of posibilities. I also see that by setting the "hair from guides" modifier to guides instead of hair I can add an "edit guides" and keep grooming it with brushes on top, that's quite cool btw are there any special bundles with zookeper and ornatrix? cheers! | Great! We dont currently have a bundle with ZK and OX but I am sure I can arrange something for you. Shoot me an email at michael.mccarthy@ephere.com Thanks Michael |
