Hi, have been style attached. have been nowhere. have at very looked different against not There is information in the Can anyone approach this issue. I have attached a new version i have started so you can see if the direction is going the be a waste of time as well. R. |
Hello, If you are using splines for your hair style here is a video tutorial that shows how to set that up. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7BX0WXHROxk&list=UUzzR4qt--4OcXgvyUTsgW6w It sounds like your using guides on spline instead of guides from shape which is what you want to use. The video should go over that. Once you have a look at that one. Please look at the OX 101 videos on our Youtube channel too. Thanks! Michael
Yes I watch that, not much to go on in regard creating the hair style. I understand how it works. It would be easy to create the kinda fur in that tutorial. I'm looking for a deeper explanation. The results don't hold well to the splines. It comes out messy, with hair spawning from splines in areas further away from the splines you would expect to have influence. R.
Hi I have watched all the videos. They are not in depth enough to give the help I'm looking for. The manual is the same, very little information to go on. Where can I find some help with the issues I raised? Please don't copy and paste standard responce to question. It is not helpful.
My Problem is the hair doesn't follow the splines. You can't touch this with the brush tools without destroying what has already been created. What is the next step in cleaning this up? Deleting these hairs only creates gaps like your model has alopecia or some disease.
Hello, In the first scene you posted I think it’s mostly a matter of having a complete hair set of guides if you want to cover the whole scalp. In that file there are only guides for the top and middle of the head. In that case this style will be interpolated all over the mesh you ask to create hair from. If you restrict the scalp to where you have placed the guides you will have better luck (images attached). On the images that you just posted you have more guides for the rest of the scalp but there are places that should not interpolate like you have circled. If you create a Part for these areas they will not interpolate and give you a closer fit to your guides. I hope that helps Thanks Michael McCarthy
Cheers I will look into that. R
Where can I find information on partings? The small section in the doc on auto partings is not much help.
Partings are a subobject of Hair From Guides. You can create a Parting by clicking on your emitter mesh and drawing a part between areas you would not want to interpolate. Thanks Michael
Hi. Yes, I did that but didn't make much difference.
Hello, I got fairly good results with the cap of the hair as posted. If you have more progress on your character and would like to post a file with issues your experiencing I would be happy to take a look and help. You may want to try using multiple hair caps is you have a section on the top that curls up and a section on the sides and back that is more strait. Thanks Michael
Hi THanks for the advice. I take it that you are advising to build the 2 sides that curl around on a separate cap? The front and back on another cap? I did think of using 2 caps.I will give this ago Keep you posted Thanks again.
If you can take a look at this and give me some advice. 1> Why does the hair develope long flat section when high guild point are set? 2> Why doesn't the hair move with the brush in that direction of brushing? Sometimes when I brush the hair it goes in the opposite direction making it difficult to refine the style. 3> Is there a better way to get the hair to follow these guild splines? There are a lot of loose hairs that will need to be brushed back into the style. 4> How would you go about that? R.
Hello, I have taken a look at your scene. 1>I don’t see any long flat sections 2>When I brush the hair it moves in the correct direction of brushing 3> It looks like the hair follows the guide splines well for the front and back to a certain extent. Again I would say this depends on the guides. In the front were you have a good deal of guides its working well. In the back is OK but there are not guides for much of the mesh. The same is true for the sides. You can see in the example I did for you in the other thread its a good idea to reduce the mesh cap or increase the guides that you have so that you have proper coverage. If not there will be interpolation that may not be a exact as you would like. 4> You could use the brush tools with a small brush or the root and strand tools to do this. There is a video on styling that goes over Root and Strand options that I think can help you here. Thanks Michael PS: If you have a scene that shows teh brushing issue or the strait sections issue please feel free to post its with a list of steps to reproduce the issue. IE 1. Open the file 2. Select "XXX" 3. In Edit Guides use brush tool and brush out the left side. Also if you would like to make a short screencapture video that may help us to see what you need help with.
Hi Cheers for the help. Yes I think that might be a good idea. I will look into some screen capture setup and send you what I'm finding. Was there a file with your last response? I don't see one.
Hi, This is an example of the brushing issue. Was there a file you attached? Can't see it this end. ralph
I did not save out the file just the screen captures above. Thanks Michael
Ok I redid that scene for you. Here is the scene file. I hope it helps you out. I also did a video on how to set this up and some pitfalls that will be uploaded shorlty. OK here is the video! Thanks a bunch Michael
Just watch your video took a long time to download. Thankyou for that. The UV bit is one thing I didn't try I'll give it a go. Can you explain how to sort the hair that intersects with the hair that should be the outer hair surface. You get these hairs spawning in the middle of a tween pushing through creating issues in the render. Also how do you deal with cutting the hair to avoid the jaggy finish. Attached Files:
I am glad you watched the video and it was helpfull;) On the bottom of the hair you should be able to use the Grow Shrink brush to get these guides strait along the back. Try adjusting the strength of the brush to be more precise. For the intersection of the two hair types I think you will need to adjust the guides to be shorter or bend over so they don't overlap like that. Using the method from the video I made you should help as those hairs will interpolate tighter to the guides. Thanks Michael
