Using 3ds Max 2012, Vray 2.5 and the demo of the latest version of Ornatrix. Getting some weird errors, problem is that I end up with only like 3 hairs that render, I can start out a scene and everything works correctly, but at some point it just stops working. Originally I was using the default hair modifier, but I've deleted all the parts for that and I've tried merging individual parts into a new scene and it works for the most part, but at some point it stops working and I can't connect it to any object or setting that could be causing it. Anyone have any idea what could be causing it? |
So an update on the problem--it was happening randomly, where you can create an object and then it just decides not to render the hairs, no way to fix. With the update that went up earlier this morning it appears to be working correctly though, so that's great news.
Good to hear that the update might have fixed the issue Marsel Khadiyev (Software Developer, EPHERE Inc.)
I just noticed that you are using the demo version. The 3.1 build is, indeed, a much newer one and it is possible that the VRay plugin you're using is designed for it which is why it didn't work correctly with V2, albeit it is still peculiar why it would only render sporadically. Let me know if you run into any other issues. Marsel Khadiyev (Software Developer, EPHERE Inc.)
Yeah, it might have been because it was the latest version of Vray--2.5, currently not having any problems.
So I'm testing the commercial version, is v3 only in beta and not out yet?
Found a bug--adding the Strand Curling modifier causes it not to render like what was happening before, same Max/Vray versions, current version of Ornatrix.
Yes, V3 is still in the last stages of beta. We will try out the curling issue. Marsel Khadiyev (Software Developer, EPHERE Inc.)
Just tested it with VRay 3 and all seems well. Do you have a simple test which reproduces this? Could be only related to VRay 2. Marsel Khadiyev (Software Developer, EPHERE Inc.)
It seems to happen if I add a Curling modifier, however, after opening the saved file and enabling the curling modifier again it renders correctly. If I remove the modifier and apply it again then it stops working again. It also happens with the Strand Clustering modifier, but none of the other modifiers. When it has the error the bounding box also goes away and if I Zoom Selected then it zooms out as if the hair were larger than before. If I turn off VrayOrnatrixMod it zooms correctly so that appears to be part of the problem. At home I'm on Max 2014 and I haven't tested it there yet.
Tested on Max 2014 and it works fine, so it might be just a problem with version 2012
