Transferring OX modifier and groom from static to animated mesh.

Hello All,

 

I have a bit of a complicated question. So my basic workflow is to groom my model and then copy the modifier stack to a animated version of the same mesh. I figure this would be simple enough, but apparently I was wrong. When I pasted the modifiers onto a referenced version of the animated mesh the hairs got significantly shorter and the surface comb completly broke. Is there a good workflow solution for this kind of problem? I am kind of stumped.
