Baking long hair

Hello. I've been trying to bake long groomed hair onto a plane, to create a hair texture. But I have a problem with it. Thing is, no matter what I do I get a diffuse texture that just lacks strand definition and doesn't look very good. I'd like to know how I can make strands to stand out more on texture without resorting to photoshop or whatever, if that's at all possible.

That's the result of baking 2k diffuse grey texture from 1000 strands. Strands/color just merge together at some point. If somebody can help me understand how to go about creating a nice bake, that'd be super. Thanks in advance.

What renderer are you baking with? Looks like some AA issues. Can you post the scene and I can have a look. I am going to put together a baking tutorial/video. Maybe I can include something on strip baking.

Thanks

Michael

Baking with default scanline renderer and max 2.5 supersampling. I'm trying to achieve a baked look similar to this, but since it's a PBR workflow, I don't want to use much of shadows or different diffuse color in my albedo texture.

My sample scene is nothing special, but here you go. Thanks for help.
