Hair From Curves - Maya to Ornatrix

Hey There!

So I'm only a Maya user, and only dabbling in 3DS because I want to use Ornatrix :(, and it's unfamiliar territory.  I'm super pleased with this new update, but I've noticed a couple of things.

1. I can't seem to select a bunch of curves and add the groom 'Hair from Curves', I can only do it one curve at a time, unless I'm missing something? This is seemingly problematic.

2. Even when I do apply the Hair from Curves groom. I don't see anything? Nothing changes, and nothing renders out. Am i missing a big step here?

Thanks!

Hi Jessi,

Thank you for expressing your issue, it is great to hear about your Maya background!

You should be able to attach multiple NURBS curves together into a single one by using the attach multiple option. Then applying the groom will convert all of the curved into guides.

Once you convert the curves into guides you need to choose how to render them. If you're using V-Ray you can add VRay Ornatrix Mod right on top of the stack, or you can add Ox Mesh from Strands modifier. However, you probably want to ground these strands to som distribution mesh (see the Ox Ground Strands mod) and then add Ox Hair from Guides on top.

Great! Thanks for the quick response! It took me a bit to find the attach you were talking about, but once I did, it started working! Awesome, thanks so much!

Alright! I've come across another problem I'm encountering. After I attach all my curves together, when I apply the Hair to Curves groom, it offsets the hair from my original curves. Is there something I can do to prevent this?

Thanks!
