Hi,

I don't have Ornatrix yet (just hairfarm) but I'm considering buying it.

Let's say I would like to sell models with hair online to people who don't have Ornatrix (only 3ds max and vray. Is there a way to prepare a model so the hair will still be renderable without ornatrix. I saw the video about exporting to maya with alembic (using some special ornatrix abc file), but I'm wondering if someone without ornatrix will be able to load a scene with the hair converted to vray proxy and render them with the right taper at the tip of the hair and even with a baked animation. Is this creating huge files for animation? Or is there other way to sell a 3ds max scene with the ornatrix hair rendering without the plugin?

thanks

Hello,

Thank you for the inquiry.

Ornatrix ABC export will export the hair curves (without the character). V-Ray proxy or any other ABC reader can then read in this hair without Ornatrix. You can control many parameters for exporting the hair curves like whether to export UVs, width, render or viewport hairs, and animation. You can merge the ABC file with a character if you wish later on.

If you save a scene with character which uses Ornatrix hair people can render it by installing our demo version. The only limitation that demo has is inability to save so loading and rendering the scene is entirely possible.

You can always take the hair guides from Ornatrix and convert them to 3dsmax native splines. These can be used by any other hair solution like Max's native hair if you wish.

Let me know if you need more information.
