Hi,

Have been following this tutorial:

I have had the problem that unless I put Ox Mesh From Strands at the top of the stack then the hair doesn't show in the viewport. Is there any way to get the hair to show in the viewport without this modifier please? I create a plane then create the Hair Strips modifier. All that shows in the viewport at the these lines:

just lines showing not hair thickness in viewport

When I render with Vray RT these hairfrommeshstripsobject render like a venitian blind:

Vray RT 3.2 hairfrommeshstrips strange render

When I render in Vray 3.2 advanced in 3ds max 2014 with Ornatrix installed using: single.install.OLSDJ5PQ7X.exe

Then this is the result the hair is round but far too fat:

fat hairs in render

This is my modifier stack in which I have tried to adjust down the thickness of the hair with the diagram with the red dots:

If some pointers as to where I am going wrong could be given I would much appreciate them please?

Ah have tried it in 2015 instead of 2014 and the viewport seems to be behaving in the right way.

I am trying to reproduce your issue here without much luck. I will post a scene soon to see if it works OK for you.

Thanks

Michael

Thank you Michael for spending the time on my problem. I have now moved on to try and test in 3ds max 2016. Just like in 2015 the hair show up well in the viewport. I am able to change the hair thickness with the Atmospheric Effects controls for rendering. When I switch to Vray 3.2 and add the VrayOrnatrixMod then the OxRenderSettings in the stack beneath that seems to be ignored and you just seem to get what the output from Ox Hair from Mesh Strips:

Have recorded my steps in this screengrab video here:

Here's the .max file:

I'm using 3ds max 2016 sp2 Ext2, Windows 7 64bit SP1, Ornatrix from single.install.X897MTYWKF.exe

I will test out your scene shorlty. I know there was an issue that Chaos did fix. You may need to update to the latest 3.2 or 3.3.

Thanks

Michael

OK tested your scene. Renders AOK for me on Vray 3.20.03. I would update your Vray as I know they did add a fix in one of there updates for this.

Thanks

Michael

Thanks Michael, Upgraded to 3.20.03 and its fixed it now.
