Hi, I'm trying to add feathers to a mesh, and even though 'face camera' is the rotate strands modifier is off and the feathers are all oriented the correct way in the viewport, whenever I render it they always face the camera. Any ideas? Thanks |
It seems to work OK until I start adding sinks in the Surface Comb Modifier, or edit the guides in any way. Will try on a new scene with a sphere..
OK if you can reproduce the issue in a new scene please post it up with the steps. I will have a look. Thanks Michael
Hi Michael, thanks for your reply. I tried it in a fresh scene just on a shpere and it worked fine, so it's clearly something to do with my model/scene, although I have no idea what. If you have any ideas of things to check I'd be really grateful.
Would it be OK to send you the scene privately? I'm really stumped and I have a deadline. Thanks!
Sure no problem. Just try to strip it down as much as you can to eliminate what ever varibles we can first. michael.mccarthy@ephere.com Thanks Michael

OK got it. Looks like Export Guide Mesh Data is causing this. If that is unchecked it should render AOK. We are looking at improving this workflow in a future build. Thanks Michael
Thanks so much! You're a lifesaver! :)
One extra problem; if I have Export Guide Mesh Data checked, then the feathers render in the right place, but then have no individual (per-strand) mapping coordinates. Any way around this?
Please try latest nightly build. You don't need to use the Export Guide Mesh Data anymore, there is now an extra checkbox to disable camera facing billboards. Marsel Khadiyev (Software Developer, EPHERE Inc.)
Hi, just wanted to say thanks, all works perfectly now and getting great results. Thanks for the really great customer service :)
