Hello,

I'm new to Ornatrix so be pation with me :) Our pipeline is to export animation from Maya to Max via Alembic and my question is how to transfer groom from Tpose created in Max to Alembic and then simulate the hair. I dont find any info about this topic.

Thanks

Thanks for reply, but I'm not sure if this is what I'm asking. I try to explain it futher step by step.

1) do some character in Max and start working on hair lookdev on Tpose

2) export character model to Maya for animators

3) import animated character back to Max as Alembic cache

4) transfer finished hair to Alembic character and simulate the dynamics

5) after then bake the hair to Alembic and render it... this step is OK and its what you answer is about and I understand it

Thanks a lot

Do you need help with steps 3 and 4?

After importing the animated character into 3DS Max you can use a Ground Strand modifier to attach the hair to the scalp of the character.

Another thing you can do is: Save your groom preset, import your animated character with the new scalp and load the groom preset in the imported scalp. I'm asuming you made the hair in a different mesh.

Hello,

thanks for help! I'm just test it and it seems to work, but I need to use uv based guide distribution.
