Hello,
I'm searching everywhere and can't find a clue.
What is a workflow for making short strips hair? I mean - when I do a long strips hair it looks fine but when I want to do same short hair on the side of the head it starts to get weird. Those are not even baked out hair and still looks weird. Do You any technics for this or do you have any idea where can I check this out?

Hi, I think you should use separete hair objects for those areas where the hair is shorter, you will have more control. Are you using a single hair object and a single Rendersettings to control the thinkness of all the hairs? Maybe this is the reason why you are getting this result. Hi, I use a separate hair object and strips object to having better control. The problem is that I want to bake it out at the end, so I don't use much of the frizz to spread a hair all over the place. I try different methods but always get a nonrealistic look. For now, I have no idea in which direction should I go.

Thank You Jeordanis Figuereo! In the previous model I used random distribution but now I have changed a thickness at the root and increased random length modifier. I also added a lot of new strips and increased frizz at the roots. It is hard to make changes to such a lot of strips but at least now it looks better!
I will probably update the thread when I'll bake it out. Again, thanks for Your help :)

I got same hair from strips that I'm happy enough to bake them out but the results that I get are quite poor. I do everything like you shown on YT channel. I use a vray material for this.
Do you know what could goes wrong? Is it due to the wrong projection settings, UV, modifications or maybe something in the scene matters?
I would appreciate any help!

Are you referring to the gaps on the hairs? The baked hair will not look 100% exactly like the original, you have to go back and forth twaeking the original hair to get good results. Remember that those hair planes are just a projection and you don't have any volume actually. Jeordanis Figuereo (Product Designer. EPHERE Inc.)

Thank You for reply Jeordanis. I was thinking about getting a better result. There are not many sources on how to bake a hair in the web. I need some sort of information what could I do better. Do You know any other good source besides ephere YouTube channel? And why the hair is so blurred and has a different color? Does the light in the scene matters while baking the hair? Should I use less hair to get a more defined texture and filled the gaps with more planes? I don't want to attack You with tons of questions but any other help will be appreciated. All the best

Hi, There is this document from CryEngine documentation, they use Ornatrix too. I think you should try all those suggestions, also, remember that Max wont render the transparency correctly, you should test the texture in a game engine or Marmoset Toolbag, assuming you are creating hairs for games.
