i seem cannot get mb to work in octane. I thought octane 3ds max supported ornatrix Do you know by any chance? |
i want to add there is mb on a sphere with hair but we have hair on an animal with skin modifier and there is no mb
seems that it is octane bug with skin mod
HI, Thank you for the report. I'm instaling Octane to try this, I'll get back to you shortly. Jeordanis Figuereo (Product Designer. EPHERE Inc.)
| Hi HEre is the scene you can try that has no mb. HEre is the conversation with otoy about this : https://render.otoy.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=80&t=64441&p=328326#p328326 hi does motion blur work with ornatrix hair? I cannot get it to work even enabling vertex mb Thanks
UPDATE: when hair is made on a moving sphere mb works. We have a walking animal and hair is attached to a deform able skin. Animal moves forward. maybe thats why there is no motion blur? i attached the scene if you go to like frame 20 you can see mb of the skin but hair has none. Thank you
UPDATE:
seems like linking skin to the green circle fixed it. But why I need to link skin to the circle if skin is linked to bones and bones are linked to circle. |
also it looks like if we hide hair and animate the deer a bit and then unhine hair we have to recomb the deer. Not sure if the problem is morphin skin modifier. Also this is the deer if you comb it and then xref scene hairs will look different
here is the picture we reopened the file and all the hair has wrong direction all the sudden. Sometimes hair direction is saved sometimes hair just points randomly after reopening Attached Files:
Try using Remember Roots Positions in GuidesFromSurface, then save the scene and re-open. Jeordanis Figuereo (Product Designer. EPHERE Inc.)
Is there something changing the topology of the deer? Jeordanis Figuereo (Product Designer. EPHERE Inc.)
we actually applying hair to already activated/animated skinned mesh that has a walk cycle. I guess we should have applied hair to a mesh before skin modifier is applied? Thanks
Hi Can you look at this videpo why hair is like moving when animal moves. really strange thanks
so here are two frames if you scroll through them back and forth you can see hairs move for some reason Thanks Attached Files:
Sorry I'm yet to look into the MB issue. In the video I see hair flickering, Are you rendering using multiple render nodes? To solve this turn ON Remember Roots Positions in HairFromGuides and GuidesFromSurface. This will cache the hair and make sure the hair is the same at every frame. Also, make sure to turn ON Remember Clusters if you are using a HairCluster modifier, this is to be sure that the clumps are nor generated at every frame. Jeordanis Figuereo (Product Designer. EPHERE Inc.)
thank you yes we use octane with multiple slave gpus. Looks like it works. Also we had very slow loading time (evaluation) before actual rendering I guess caching it fixed it too
i think i was wrong about evaluation times it seems that render hair count did nothing until i unchecked remember roots. But after I turned it back on I had to recomb the character. Should we hit remember roots first and then comb it?
The problem is that the hair gets messed up when you turn OFF Remember Roots? That shouldn't happen. Which version of Ornatrix are you using? Try using Remember Roots Position in HairFromStrands only, see how the hair looks after you turn it OFF. Jeordanis Figuereo (Product Designer. EPHERE Inc.)
