Add more guides to existing stack?

Hiya, apologies in advance for spamming the forums.

I have a decent groom now for a kiwi bird with a stack as follows:

HairFromGuides
Edit Guides - Overall groom - Shape work mostly
Detail - increasing guides to 10 points for proper grooming/shaping above
EditGuides - Length Edits Only
Moov Physics - basic settings for later in the project
Surface Comb - Sinks
GuidesFromMesh - 1000 guide count (point count 4)

I have found that I need more guides in some areas, mostly around surface edges. Is there a best practice way to do this? Possibly a way to add specific guides one by one?
The obvious (to me) approach is to increase the Guide count from 1000 to 2000, but the edits downstream then produce really strange results which is understandable.

Thanks

Here's a pic of the areas which need more guide control for smaller feather lengths

Hi Matts,

Two alternatives:

1) If you increase the Guide Count in GuidesFromMesh, go to EditGuides and use Re-Target Changes so the edits made in EditGuides will adapt to the new guide count.

2) You can plan guides one by one (recommended in this case) using the Plant Guides tool found in EditGuides.

Take a look into the EditGuides documentation for more info an examples:

Thanks Mate, worked a treat. I have full control now

Cool. I would love to see the final result :)
