It is very difficult (stilltrying before saying impossible) to get a simulation working with feathers. Using mesh guides and cloth or PhysX doesn't really seem practicle.

1- it would be very usefull to set the detail by unit number, so that small hair/feather have less steps than long ones

2- it would be nice to have flat dynamic proxies, to follow the feather shape, probably almost flat boxes would do the trick

3- to be able to apply the dynamic on a group, and on this topic I am looking at how to select hair based on their length (could be in generate data) so that the not simulated hair could stil be interpolated with the simulated ones when generating strands

Thank you for your suggestion. Are you using Mesh from Strands to get the feathers, or strand propagation?
