Zookeeper switches viewport to realistic all the time

Just installed the demo (2.2.1.0) (max 2013 64, pu 6)

i create a box, add it to the shematic view, (or any other action for that matter) and my view changes to realistic (but only if i refresh the screen manually - e.g. pan the view).

Furthermore i noticed, as soon as i added the box, the realistic view got messed up - like the scene extends moved far into space - the shadows are low res, z-fightig occurs. (node preview rendering causes that?)

Also if the zookeeper window is open, and i (e.g) add a modifier through the max interface, the view jumps to realistic.

Ok - i think i figured the source - the node preview - if i set it to "show icon" it doesnt happen anymore.

any ideas?

You are correct, this has to do with rendering out previews for nodes. If you can sacrifice having the previews, as you did with switching to "Show Icon" option for now it should not have any other side effects.

Unfortunately, Max viewports allow for many modes of rendering and got progressively more complex over the last few releases. I will investigate if this switching can be averted, or where "Show Icons" needs to be the default option going forward.

Thank you for reporting this.

thanks,

where to set the default for "show icons"? (i just right-clicked a node till now)

There should be an option for that in Configuration->Schematic View
