Hi Lala,
Slate is a schematic material editor. Zookeeper provides schematic interface to editing materials as well but it also does so for the rest of the scene (objects, modifiers, controllers, textures, materials, shaders, and anything else thats used inside a scene). On top of that there are very elaborate tree views and palette views for the scene. In other words- slate is a sub-set of Zookeeper's functionality. Personally I use Zookeeper for much more than material editing.
No, Autodesk did not buy Zookeeper :) Another selling point is that Zookeeper is under active development. We release about two new builds each week and fix bugs and add features very quickly. Hope that helps! Marsel Khadiyev (Software Developer, EPHERE Inc.) | |

I'm personally very sorry to see that Autodesk chose to make NodeJoe (Slate) a part of Max. This locks the material editor out of the more general view of node editing inside Max that ZooKeeper is providing. I hope Autodesk realizes their mistake and integrate ZooKeeper instead and thus be more consistent with project Excalibur (XBR).
