How to import the exported groom from UE to Cinema4D?

Hi,

I succesfully exported the groom from UE.

The exported groom has an .usda extension. Cinema4D is not seeing the exported files from UE.

I changed the extension to .oxgroom for cinema4D. I can see the QH icon, but it is dimmed and not selectable.

Must be doing something wrong here?!

Cheers,

Marcus

In the youtube tutorial you mention 'Provide the extension in generate groom dialog' when exporting. Shouldn't that be 'Create Groom dialog' ?

I've tried typing .oxg .oxg.usda .usda behind the file name, but none of them seem to work.

Hi,

You have to export it as Ornatrix Alembic. At the moment Ornatrix for C4D does not support USD.

But is it still non-destructive after importing with the same operator stack as in UE?

The Alembic file will contain the collapsed hair stack and some hair data like strand channels and strand groups. The operators/modifiers will be lost.

USD grooms support for C4D is in the works.
