Ornatrix Unreal Engine: Hair disappears when tool first touched to hair

My customer purchased a license and asked me to adjust some hair on a stock metahuman. The hair gets converted but and soon as I click on the hair with a comb or pull tool the hair disappears. If i toogle the edit strands lightbulb, the hair comes back but it is all messed up. Using UE 5.1.1
