Title:Surface Comb Edit Sinks push away into space
Category:Crash/Critical

Problem

Description:

Surface Comb Edit Sinks push away into 3D space.  When you try to move a sink it does not move within the proximal area in which your trying to move it, instead let's say within the perspective viewport your trying to move a sink up viewing it from the side.  As you try to move it up it pushing away from your camera view off into the distance.  It would be helpful if you could use the normal translation tool handles.

Steps to Reproduce:

1: Add surface comb. and add some sinks.

2: go into sink edit mode and rotate the view to the angle you desire.  Try to move the sink up or down, the sink pushes off into 3d space away from camera.

Note:  The opposite also happens, the sink will at times pull towards the camera.

Hi Dan,

Thank you for your report, however I cannot reproduce this issue. If you are not in the latest nightly build give it a try and let me know how it works. If you are already on the latest nightly it would be useful to have your scene for testing (If is not reproducible on a clean scene with a sphere).

i Jeordanis.

This happens in the latest build, here is a video to better show the issue.

Thank you for the video, I can see the problem now and we are looking into it.

If you get the crash again while working with the sinks please send us the log file generated.

@Rectro, this happend because sinks are always parallel to their faces, so depending on your perspective, a small change in the viewport generated a long sink in world. But we implemented a fix for his problem, the sink length will now be resized relative to the viewport, so it will not get too long or too short.

I still have this issue in the latest build on both R21 and R23.
