Problem

Description:though splines are generated from strands (proved by sweep), they don´t render with hair material (pvoved by circle that renders fine ... https://www.dropbox.com/s/4842wc0j8llbkfn/no%20render.c4d?dl=0
Steps to Reproduce:try hair material on furball with splines from strands applied

Hi,

What render engine are you using? I believe every renderer has its own way to render curves and I think not all of them can render curves as hairs. The Curves from strands operator is not intended to be used for rendering, we usually support hair primitives on each renderer and they have to be implemented differently. However right now the only supported renderer is the default Cinema renderer, we are working to support Redshift.

Some users have reported to render Ox hair using Arnold for C4D using the Arnold hair shader, but again, is not officially supported yet.

I´m using CInema´s standard and physical render. Just have a look at my file from dropbox. You will see I have added a circle spline with the same hair material Ornatrix has got - and this renders, So the engine is able to render splines with hair. On the other hand I have made an instance of ornatrix to be meshed with sweep - and it shows geometry, So ornatix is outputting splines. Just his spline is not made available to hair engine. The old tag versions all rendered fine with hair. So porting this thing to deformers something must have been lost....

just saw the reason why I could not upload anything directly. Her´s my test file again

and just another hint - according to you note I tried a different renderer and see cycles is able to render splines from strands. It´s just Cinema´s native renderes that can´t use ornatrix spline output

I use MoSpline, which gets Deform Cache from last operator, imho

that´s a workaround only. It should work out of the box and not only if I use a helper object. Can confirm of course that mospline gets the informations as well and renders. But Ornatrix object rendered directly before switching to deformers without having to use a mospline for conversion ...

Hi Lothar,

Thank you, I can see the issue and created a ticket for it. I will get back to you as soon as possible.
